By now, I think most NMB fans have heard the news about Fukumoto Aina’s (Ai-nyan) graduation. At the end of yesterday N1 stage performance, Ai-nyan announced she will be graduating from NMB48 in the near future to pursue her dream of becoming a variety talent.
When I first heard of the news of Ai-nyan’s graduation yesterday, I had the same devastated feeling I had when Jo Eriko (Jo) announced her graduation back in September of last year. But as the day went by and I thought more about it, I realized that I had this strange sense of pride in Ai-nyan for making such a difficult decision to pursue her dream. You could see the tears in Ai-nyan’s eyes as she made her announcement and you could see how strongly she believes in her dream. Of course, I’m going to miss seeing Ai-nyan, one of the crown staples of NMB, leave the group. But if it’s to pursue her dream, I support Ai-nyan 100% and I know she can definitely succeed in being a variety talent.
Ai-nyan graduation announcement has inspired me to remember my own dreams in life and to go after them with everything I’ve got. Thank you, Ai-nyan, for inspiring me and being completely awesome in NMB. I hope to see you as a variety talent on TV for a long time to come.
I haven’t really felt like writing much, especially with the Sashihara Rino (Sasshi) story unfolding at the moment. But I wanted to write up a really, really short post on a stage comedy show that I’ve enjoying very much, Nekketsu! Ninjo-ha Comedy Shakariki Chuzai-san. The show features NMB48 Team N member and Next Girl Fukumoto Aina (Ai-nyan) as the daughter of the owner of a fictional (at least I think it’s fictional) convenience store, Five up Mart. It is located across from a police station, with its own cast of colorful characters. So of course, hilarity ensues.
Gave the show a try because of Ai-nyan being in it and it’s been thoroughly enjoyable. I really recommend to anyone who will listen to give the show a watch. I think you’ll enjoy the show as well.
Random episode pictures of Ai-nyan after jump. Also, fellow Team N member Yamaguchi Yuuki (Yuppi) and Team M captain Shimada Rena (Shimarena) make a guest appearance in one of the episodes.
This morning (last night in Japan) the results for AKB48’s 27th Single Senbatsu Election were finally announced and like many others from my timezone (US EST), I woke up early to watch every single on the live YouTube stream. Compared to last year, I really enjoyed this year’s election. There were many interesting moments to note from this year’s 64 member field from SKE48 dominating Undergirls to Umeda Ayaka (Ume-chan) finally making Senbatsu to Sashihara Rino (Sasshi) crashing the Top 4. And of course, I was happy to see my own kami-oshi Minegishi Minami (Miichan) move up a spot to #14 and make Senbatsu once again. Two of my votes to here. And I was thrilled to see NMB48 get 5 members into the Top 64.
Yamamoto Sayaka (Sayanee) and Watanabe Miyuki (Milky) in Undergirls, Fukumoto Aina (Ai-nyan) and Yamada Nana (Nana) in Next Girls, and Ogasawara Mayu (Maachun) in Future Girls. I’m a bit sad Maachun dropped so much from her #30 preliminary results ranking, but making Top 64 is still absolutely great for her. Ai-nyan managed to climb from her #55 ranking to past both Maachun and Nana to be the 3rd highest ranked NMB member. Still happy to see my NMB oshi Nana make Next Girls with Ai-nyan. It’s a great honor for both of them. And I’m slightly disappointed that Sayanee and Milky couldn’t crack senbatsu or lead Undergirls, but they both have high Undergirls positions, so I’m happy to see the two most popular members of NMB doing well.
As I said before, I’m also slightly concerned with the lack of a Team M or NMB KKS presence, but I expect their time to come later in any possible future elections. I really want Team M members Jo Eriko (Jo) and Shimada Rena (Shimarena) to rank in the election in the future.
Congratulations to all the Top 64 members for the AKB48 27th Single Senbatsu Election.
NMB members’ speeches from AKB48’s official YouTube channel after the jump. (Might be up for a limited time apparently)
It’s been only a day since AKB48’s 26th single Manatsu no sounds good! was released and on its first day, the single has sold 1,170,554 copies. And with those copies come the voting tickets to determine the senbatsu for the 27th single. The preliminary results from the 1st day have been released. While some results, such as Oshima Yuko (Yuko) and Kashiwagi Yuki (Yukirin) being 1st and 2nd respectively, were pretty much expected, there were a few surprises. And among the preliminary Top 64 results, we have five NMB48 members making the list!
If this ranking were to hold (which it won’t because there are plenty of votes still out there), NMB48 would have three Undergirls (positions #17-32) in Yamamoto Sayaka (Sayanee), Watanabe Miyuki (Milky), and Ogasawara Mayu (Maachun). Yamada Nana (Nana) would be a Next Girl (#33-48) and Fukumoto Aina (Ai-nyan) would be a Future Girl (#49-64).
Sayanee and Milky seem certain to make the Top 64, but it’s nice to see five NMB members in position to hear their names announced during the election. I’m pleasantly surprised to Maachun up so high to #31 so early. If she can maintain her Undergirls position, I will be completely thrilled. The only disappointing thing about the results is that there are no Team M members or NMB KKS in the list so far. I expect Jo Eriko (Jo) to make a push towards making Future Girls.
It’s officially election time and I’m anxious but excited. I have yet to receive my singles, so I have not cast my votes in the election yet. Anyways, hoping for favorable results for NMB and all of my favorite girls. Have fun voting for your favorites, people!
NMB48 Team N member Fukumoto Aina (Ai-nyan) recently appeared as a guest on the television program Konna Umai no Hajimete. The show combines two of my favorite things together: NMB48 and food. In this episode, Ai-nyan gets a taste of some fresh and wonderful seafood. Crab legs, chikuwa, squid, shrimp. Ai-nyan looked like she loved all the tasty looking food she got to eat. And of course, we got the obligatory, awesome signature Ai-nyan Hadouhou on this show. Pictures after the jump.
Been really busy as of late, but I got some to watch some NMB48 After School again. Episode 44 features NMB48 Team N members Yamada Nana (Nana), Fukumoto Aina (Ai-nyan), and Jonishi Kei (Keicchi). In this episode, the girls hit the slopes and visit a ski resort.
I decided to go back and watch the very first episode of Naniwa Nadeshiko (aired on July 12th, 2011). I thought back to then, almost a week before NMB48’s first single was released, when I watched it for the first time. Things have changed since then. I guess this post will be a look back at watching the 1st episode of what would become my favorite ***48 TV show.
Been awhile since I updated the blog. Very late, but time for the latest Naniwa Nadeshiko. Episode 20 features NMB48 members Yamamoto Sayaka (Sayanee), Watanabe Miyuki (Miruki), Yamada Nana (Nana), Fukumoto Aina (Ai-nyan), Jo Eriko (Jou), Yagura Fuuko (Fuuchan) and newcomer to the show Okita Ayaka (A~pon).

A bit of old news here, but NMB48 has been chosen to promote Monster Hunter Tri G for the Nintendo 3DS. NMB48 members Fukumoto Aina (Ai-nyan), Yamada Nana (Nana), and Ogasawara Mayu (Maachun) dressed in Monster Hunter attire to appear in a TV CM for the latest Monster Hunter entry. A video of the girls in Monster Hunter attire has appeared on Capcom’s official YouTube channel.
